San Angelo Man Arrested for Attempted Stabbing During Child Custody Exchange

SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been arrested for attempting to stab a man at a child custody exchange.

Raymond Morales, 32, of San Angelo, has been arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, several San Angelo police officers were dispatched to the Christian Faith Center parking lot, 1414 N. Chadbourne St., regarding a disturbance.

An officer was informed by a witness that she and her boyfriend, the victim, were meeting with the defendant, identified as Morales, for their weekly child custody exchange. During the exchange, Morales and the victim began a verbal argument that escalated to Morales producing a knife and attempting to stab him.

This incident was captured on audiovisual recording through the witness’s cell phone.

Video collected showed Morales and the victim engaged in a verbal argument in a black GMC with Morales positioned outside the open back passenger door and the victim sitting sideways in the front passenger seat. Morales then pulled a black folding knife and fully extended the blade. He was observed jumping into the backseat of the vehicle and lunging towards the victim from behind.

The witness intervened and the victim ended up grabbing the blade of the knife, resulting in a cut to his left palm.

The victim told the investigator that the assault caused him fear and that Morales had demonstrated similar aggression in the past.

Morales was arrested on March 3, 2025, and is currently an inmate in the Tom Green County Jail being held on $103,000 bond. Morales was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
