SAN ANGELO, TX — The Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE has been slashing federal spending around the country.
The cuts have now reached San Angelo, according to the DOGE website.
The annual lease for the U.S. Geological Survey, 3745 S. Jackson St., will be terminated.
The lease is listed at $121,398, and the total savings for taxpayers will be $192, 214, according to the site.
The square footage of the building is 7,510 feet.
DOGE is an initiative of the second Trump administration to reduce wasteful federal spending, with Elon Musk serving as a senior advisor.
Abilene also has two offices that are having their leases terminated, the DHS Transportation Security Administration and the Social Security Administration, which will amount to a total savings of $383,106.

GOOD RIDANCE!!
Most of these govt offices/sites are wasted tax dollars anyway due to fact when a taxpayer needs help/assistance from them it is all done on the phone anyway.

PermalinkI strongly suspect you have little to no knowledge regarding the work being done at this office, the persons involved in doing it, or its value. Such is the case with the DOGE clowns; they have no idea what the hell they are doing other than blindly following moronic guidelines pushed on them by fools.
There are intelligent ways to review costs and seek reductions therein, but there is no intelligence in what in happening with DOGE. Along these lines, I present these gifts from others:
"Believing a small group of billionaires are suddenly working tirelessly for the benefit of the working class requires a spectacular level of stupidity."
"Elon's been rewarded $1 billion in new contracts in two weeks. Nothing they are doing is about saving $. It’s about funneling public funds into the hands of billionaire predators."
"When did firing people like nuclear scientists and air traffic controllers seem like a better idea than simply taxing the rich?"
"The past few weeks have felt like being tied to a chair while a toddler plays with a loaded gun. This is going to be a very long four years…"
"Yosemite National Park’s annual budget is around $30 million, as of 2021. About $25 million was blown just so the Bronze Buffoon could attend the Super Bowl and Daytona 500. Instead of shutting down the parks, just sit him in front of a TV."
I could go on, but the list of foibles and mental/moral miscarriages associated with this current would-be monarchy is bloody near endless and will grow larger.
