San Angelo Man Indicted for Robbery Over $22 in Snacks and Drinks

 

SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been indicted for robbery after he threatened a convenience store employee with a knife, court documents state. 

Jaylon Knight, 21, of San Angelo, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated robbery.

According to court documents, on Oct. 31, 2024, at around 2:50 a.m., San Angelo police responded to the Allsups located at 514 North Main Street regarding a robbery. Call notes indicated that a white male with face tattoos had fled the scene after robbing the store with a knife.

The investigator spoke with an officer who had made contact with the suspect in a parking lot located on the 500 block of East 6th Street. The suspect was detained and identified as Jaylon Knight. During the course of this contact, the officer located a knife that had been discarded along with items that matched the description of the items taken from the store, information from court documents states. 

A witness stated that he observed Knight enter the store and proceed to gather multiple items, even being helped by the victim. Knight became aggressive with the victim and demanded the property be brought to the register.

The witness was advised by the victim that Knight had pulled a knife on him to take the property.

The victim stated that Knight entered the store and got several items for a transaction. Among the items were two alcoholic beverages, which the victim was not permitted to sell at the time of day. When Knight was told this, he demanded the drinks be given to him. The victim refused and, in turn, Knight produced a knife and demanded the items be brought to the counter. The victim surrendered the items and Knight departed the store.

Security footage showed Knight produce a knife and make gestures with it.

The investigator reviewed a printed receipt that showed the total of the stolen items to be $22.23 and the items included two burritos, a single cookie, a single bag of chips, a single candy bar, and two cans of alcohol. He also reviewed the items and weapons that were found on the scene. The knife matched the description of the one used in the robbery.

Knight was arrested on October 31, 2024, and has been an inmate in the Tom Green County Jail since being held on a $85,964 bond.
