SAN ANGELO, TX — No. 2 Angelo State wrapped up a series sweep of Sul Ross State with a 9-5 victory on Sunday afternoon at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
It was an excellent weekend overall for the Rams on offense. Angelo State scored a total of 66 runs in the four runs against the Lobos. Defensively, the Rams only allowed 11 runs, including a shutout victory in their 18-0 win on Saturday.
With the latest win, the Rams improved to 10-2 on the season and remain atop the Lone Star Conference standings, while the Lobos fell to 1-11.
Angelo State struck early in Game 4, scoring three runs in the first inning. Ethan Flodstrom scored thanks to a balk before Tayten Tredaway hit a sacrifice RBI to score Jacob Guerrero. Lane Hutchinson followed with an RBI double to give the Rams a 3-0 lead.
In the second inning, Blake Wilhoite singled, advanced to third on a wild pitch and groundout, and scored on a throwing error to extend the lead to 4-0.
Sul Ross State responded in the fourth, capitalizing on a walk and two-out hits to cut the deficit to 4-3 against Rams starter Alizaeh Gutierrez. The senior left-hander finished with four innings pitched, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two.

The Rams answered in the fifth, doubling their run total with a four-run inning highlighted by a two-RBI single from Justin Harris.
Guerrero added a run in the sixth after drawing a walk, stealing second, and scoring on a Tredaway double to make it 9-3.
Sul Ross State would score two more runs but would never seriously threaten the Rams' lead. Caleb Heuertz closed out the ninth to earn his second save.
Angelo State returns to action next weekend with a four-game series at Oklahoma Christian in Edmond, beginning Friday, February 21.
