CONROE, TX — The Angelo State Belles softball team capped off a perfect start to 2025 with a 10-1 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma at the DII First Pitch Invitational in Conroe, TX, over the weekend. The Rambelles swept through five different teams, including two run-rule victories, to begin the 2025 season with a 5-0 start.
Laylonna Applin led the way for the Belles over the weekend with a total of 10 hits in five games. She added three home runs, two triples, three doubles, and 14 RBIs in what became a fantastic weekend for the Belles' Sophmore from Stamford, TX.
On defense, Cheyenne Floyd and Amelia Hawthorne led the way for the Belles' pitching rotation. Floyd secured three victories and finished with a 1.00 ERA, while Hawthorne racked up two wins while allowing zero earned runs.
To say the weekend went well for Angelo State would be an understatement. The Belles are in a position to do some serious damage in the Lone Star Conference this season and the hot start proves that.
Angelo State returns to action on Friday, February 7, when the Belles host the annual ASU George and Ola McCorkle Challenge at the Angelo State Softball Complex here in San Angelo. The Belles' first game will be against Missouri Western State. First pitch in that matchup is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
