Driver Ejected, Killed in Taylor County Crash on FM 382

TAYLOR COUNTY, TX — A Novice man died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning after losing control on a wet road and being ejected, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened around 9:50 a.m. on Farm Market Road 382, about 0.1 miles south of County Road 178. DPS officials said the driver, identified as 28-year-old Jose Luis Ramirez Jr., was traveling southbound at an unsafe speed for the conditions when his 1999 GMC Sierra "exited the roadway in a side skid and overturned, ejecting the driver."

Ramirez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The posted speed limit on FM 382 is 65 mph, and authorities noted that light mist and fog created wet road conditions at the time of the crash.
