SAN ANGELO, TX — Showers and thunderstorms are expected to expand across the Big Country and Heartland today, with precipitation chances highest east of a Rotan-to-Brady line, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
Residents should also expect dense fog in parts of West Central Texas, including the Concho Valley.
The rainfall is forecast to remain light, although brief moderate downpours and isolated instances of small hail are possible with stronger storms. Showers are anticipated to linger into the afternoon, with high temperatures reaching the 60s across the region. Winds will shift from the south to the northwest at 5-10 mph later in the day.
This morning, patchy dense fog developed across areas including Sweetwater and the Concho Valley, reducing visibility to less than a mile in some locations. Motorists are urged to use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and allow extra travel time.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to climb through the weekend, reaching highs in the 70s to lower 80s by Monday. A cold front is set to bring cooler conditions beginning Tuesday, with highs in the 50s and lows in the mid-30s by New Year’s Day.
