Texas Woman Allegedly Locked 7-Year-Old in Dog Cage Under Christmas Tree

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston woman is spending the holidays in jail after being accused of locking a 7-year-old girl in a dog cage under a Christmas tree.

Rose Anderson, who is reportedly related to the victim, was charged with unlawful restraint after the incident, which allegedly occurred on or around Dec. 13. Anderson appeared before a Harris County magistrate on Sunday, where her bond was set at $10,000.

Court documents state Anderson allegedly locked the child in the cage as a form of “discipline” for her behavior at school. Houston police accuse Anderson of kicking the girl while she was confined, restraining her with zip ties, and duct-taping her mouth.

Records indicate Anderson, a single mother working three jobs, remained in the Harris County Jail as of Sunday evening.
