DoorDash Targets Illegal Immigrants and Account Sharing in New Crackdown

SAN ANGELO, TX - DoorDash is stepping up efforts to prevent illegal immigrants and other unverified individuals from making deliveries by cracking down on account sharing.

The company has introduced frequent identity checks and advanced monitoring systems in cities like Los Angeles, Denver, and Seattle, with plans for wider implementation next year.

The San Francisco-based delivery platform has faced pressure to address complaints about unverified drivers avoiding background checks by using shared accounts. In some cases, drivers with disqualifying records have paid authorized users for account access.

To tackle the issue, DoorDash now requires drivers to verify their identity by uploading selfies that match their government-issued identification. Over 150,000 drivers are subject to weekly identity checks, and accounts are deactivated for non-compliance.
