Trump Named Time’s Person of the Year, Will Ring NYSE Bell

NEW YORK, NY— Donald Trump has been named Time magazine’s 2024 Person of the Year and will ring the New York Stock Exchange opening bell on Thursday.

The recognition marks a second time for Trump, who first earned the title in 2016 after his initial presidential win. Finalists this year included Vice President Kamala Harris, tech mogul Elon Musk, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump’s ceremony at the NYSE is part of a larger celebration. The NYSE’s ceremonial bell-ringing has become a cultural hallmark, with last year’s honoree, Taylor Swift, taking part.

The award comes as Trump prepares to re-enter the White House following his victory in the November election.

Trump’s campaign promises, which included tax cuts and economic deregulation, have resonated with investors. Following his November victory, the S&P 500 saw its strongest rally in nearly two years, gaining 2.5% in a single day.
