Texas Veteran, 80, Killed in Fight Over Parking Spot

HOUSTON, TX — An 80-year-old Texas veteran was killed Friday, Dec. 6, after a fight over a parking spot.

According to an arrest affidavit, Earl Hollins was backing into a parking space at a Houston grocery store while another man, Anthony Ray Boyce, 57, was trying to park in the same spot.

The two reportedly began arguing, and Boyce allegedly struck Hollins in the face, causing him to fall and hit the back of his head.

Hollins later died at the hospital.

Boyce left the scene but was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The charge has since been upgraded to murder.

Hollins’ niece, Elma Hollins-Washington, told Houston TV station KTRK that the family was stunned over the death.

“I said, ‘My god, over a parking spot. You’re going to injure my uncle, and now, finally, he’s dead, and it was over a parking spot,'” she said.
