SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man was indicted after pulling a knife on a woman in a hotel room.
Thomas Navarro, 32, of San Angelo, has been by a Tom Green County grand jury for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
According to court documents, on September 21, 2024, San Angelo police officers were called to the San Angelo Lodge, located at 1717 West Beauregard Avenue, regarding an assault victim. Upon their arrival, the officers located the victim sitting outside near the hotel. Officers learned that the victim that she was invited by the defendant, identified as Navarro, because he wanted to have sex.
When the victim refused Navarro’s advances, he produced a knife and held it against her throat while applying pressure. The victim was able to get away and leave the hotel room.
Officers knew Navarro from previous encounters and saw him standing by the balcony near one of the hotel rooms, so police detained him pending the investigation.
Investigators observed a small abrasion on the victim’s neck that was less than half an inch long. He also spoke to the complainant who called the police and was told that the victim approached him and said that Navarro pulled a knife on her.
The man asked Navarro, who had come downstairs when police arrived, why they were there. Navarro responded with, “They are probably here for me because I pulled a knife on some b****, I should have killed her.”.
When Navarro was interviewed, he denied pulling a knife on the victim but did say he owned a knife. He gave consent to search the room, and police found a four-inch folding knife behind the bed hidden along the wall of the room.
Navarro was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on September 21, 2024, and has remained an inmate since being held on $80,000 bond.
