Angelo State Rambelles' Soccer Season Ends in Regional Final

 

GOLDEN, CO — The Angelo State University women’s soccer team's season ended with a 3-1 loss to Colorado Mines on Sunday in an NCAA Division II regional final.

ASU scored the game’s first goal in the eighth minute when Sanai Stewart sent a corner kick directly into the net.

The lead was short lived, however, as Colorado Mines answered in the 19th minute when Afton Rasco headed in a cross from Jolie Jiricek.

The game remained tied 1-1 at halftime.

The Orediggers’ Bella Campos scored the go-ahead goal in the 54th minute, and Reese McDermott put the game away with a goal in the 77th.

The Belles failed to record a shot in the second half.

ASU’s best season in program history ended with a record of 14-2-5. The Belles were making their first appearance in a regional final.

ASU had allowed only nine goals all season before Sunday, with Amber Lockwood tying a program-record with 12 shutouts. Overall, ASU had 14 shutouts.
