The coldest readings were recorded in low-lying areas and river valleys, including Menard and Big Lake, which dipped to 29°F.

Residents can expect calmer weather this weekend, with highs climbing into the 60s beginning Saturday and overnight lows in the 30s.

A weak cold front is forecast to move through the region Saturday night into Sunday, slightly lowering temperatures but leaving skies mostly clear.

Next week shows a steady rise in temperatures, with highs reaching the low 70s by midweek and morning lows edging into the 40s.

Light rain may develop early in the week along a Brownwood-to-Sonora line, though only minimal accumulations are expected.
