AUSTIN, TX - Texans hitting the road this Thanksgiving weekend should brace for significant congestion on major highways, including the I-10 and I-45 corridors, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
I-10 Corridor:
- Wednesday, Nov. 27: Expect heavy traffic from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in El Paso, San Antonio, Columbus, Sealy/Katy, Houston, and Beaumont.
- Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving): Light traffic is expected overall, with possible delays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in El Paso.
- Friday, Nov. 29: Moderate congestion is forecast between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. in El Paso, Columbus, and Sealy. Traffic is likely to pick up again from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in El Paso and Houston.
- Saturday, Nov. 30: Travelers may experience moderate delays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in El Paso, Sealy, and Katy.
- Sunday, Dec. 1: Heavy congestion is expected from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in El Paso, San Antonio, Seguin, and Baytown, and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Waelder/Flatonia, Columbus, Sealy/Katy, Houston, Beaumont, and Orange.
I-45 Corridor:
- Wednesday, Nov. 27: Traffic is forecast to be heavy from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Dallas, Huntsville, Conroe, and Houston, with additional delays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Dallas, Corsicana, Fairfield, Conroe, and Houston.
- Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving): Light traffic is anticipated, with minor delays possible from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Houston.
- Friday, Nov. 29: Moderate traffic is expected from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Houston and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Dallas.
- Saturday, Nov. 30: Light traffic is likely throughout the day, though delays may occur from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Houston.
- Sunday, Dec. 1: Heavy traffic is forecast from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Huntsville and Houston, and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Richland, Fairfield, Buffalo, Madisonville, The Woodlands, and Houston.
