Cold Front to Bring Temperature Drop for Thanksgiving

SAN ANGELO, TX - San Angelo and the surrounding areas will experience a temperature drop this week as a strong cold front moves through, bringing near-record warmth today and freezing conditions by Friday morning.

Temperatures on Wednesday are expected to rise into the mid-80s, with breezy southwest winds gusting up to 35 mph.

San Angelo may come close to breaking its record high of 86°F, set in 1949. However, the warm spell will be short-lived as a sharp cold front arrives late Wednesday night, cooling the region in time for Thanksgiving.

By Thursday, high temperatures will plummet into the low to mid-50s, with breezy north-northeast winds making it feel even cooler. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy, creating a chilly Thanksgiving Day for outdoor gatherings and travel.

The coldest conditions are anticipated early Friday morning, with widespread freezing temperatures forecast across West Texas. Lows are expected to dip into the upper 20s to lower 30s, prompting residents to prepare for frost and protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing. Highs on Friday will remain in the low 50s under partly cloudy skies.

Residents are advised to bundle up, especially for early morning activities on Friday.
