SAN ANGELO, TX — Eight San Angelo Central football players earned first-team honors on the All-District 2-6A Team that was released Monday.
The Bobcats were represented by four players on offense — tight end Casner Stribling, wide receiver Gavin Johsnon and offensive linemen Tu’Uta Kalamafoni and Chase Cole.
Central’s four defensive selections were defensive lineman Brayan Sandoval, linebackers Jaekob Jackson and Mason Van Sickle, and safety Kasen Rodgers.
Second-team honorees included quarterback Christian English, wide receiver Jimmy Edwards, offensive lineman Caleb Martinez and defensive lineman Riley Oines.
Earning honorable mention for Central were kicker Evan Vaughn, cornerback Zayden Norton, running back Elijah Allen, linebackers Ricardo Perrusquia and LuisAngel Garcia, offensive linemen Jacob Reyes and Ethan Boyd, and defensive lineman Shawn Scott.
The Bobcats had a record of 4-6 last season, which was a three-win improvement from a year ago, and they won their first district game since 2022 with a 23-13 victory over Odessa High.
Central also closed the gap considerably on its district rivals. The Bobcats lost to the top four teams last year by a combined 95 points. This season, they lost by a combined 24 points.
District champion Frenship took many of the top awards, including the MVP in quarterback Holden Phillips.
Frenship wide receiver Leyton Stone shared Offensive MVP honors with Midland High running back Elijah McCoy.
Midland Legacy safety Cole Neatherlin was named Defensive MVP.
