As part of the ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, closures will allow crews to install steel beams for new flyover ramps. The closures start at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, and will last until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, affecting I-10 eastbound and westbound main lanes as well as eastbound Loop 1604 at the interchange. All four cloverleaf ramps connecting I-10 and Loop 1604 will be closed for the duration.

TxDOT reports that the work is 76% complete, with 115 steel beams already installed. The first of the new flyover ramps is expected to open by the end of the year. TxDOT has set up detours to guide drivers through alternate routes, and law enforcement will assist with traffic flow around the closure.

San Angelo travelers heading south should plan ahead and use navigation apps for real-time updates. Access to businesses in the area will remain open, and closures may conclude early if progress is ahead of schedule. Major closures will be paused from Thanksgiving through the end of the year to minimize travel disruptions.
