San Angelo Man Arrested for Pointing Handgun at Concerned Citizen

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested after allegedly threatening someone with a handgun.

Israel Reyes, 21, of San Angelo, has been arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after threatening a man with a handgun.

According to court documents, on Nov. 11, 2024, San Angelo police officers were dispatched to the intersection of North Farr Street and West 12th Street regarding an assault.

The investigator met with the victim, who said he was driving in the area when he saw a male subject, identified as Reyes, pull a woman from a vehicle. The victim stopped to check on the woman’s welfare when Reyes approached him, pulled out a firearm, and pointed it at the victim.

Other San Angelo police officers in the area learned of the incident when they observed a man that matched the description in the 100 block of West 12th Street driving a white Chevy Tahoe. Officers spoke with Reyes, who admitted to having an altercation with his girlfriend. When Reyes was asked if he had any weapons in the vehicle, he confirmed he did.

Reyes then admitted to confronting the victim and displaying a handgun, according to court documents.

The investigator also spoke with Reyes’s girlfriend, who said she had an argument with him. She said the victim stopped close to them, and Reyes pulled out a gun. She also said she could not see if he pointed the gun at the victim as his back was towards her.

Reyes was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released the same day on $25,000 bond.
