SAN ANGELO, TX — The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Texas rose to $2.69, a one-cent increase from last week, according to AAA Texas’ latest Weekend Gas Watch.
Although prices are slightly up from last week, they remain 18 cents lower than this time last year.
San Angelo’s current average price stands at $2.83 per gallon, consistent with last week and just three cents lower than last year’s figure.
Across Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the highest prices, with an average of $2.96 per gallon, while Abilene residents enjoy the lowest price at $2.50 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price fell by two cents to $3.11 per gallon, 30 cents lower than it was one year ago.
“Texans are paying some of the lowest gas prices in the country again this week," said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson. “Texas has the third lowest gas price average in the U.S.”
According to the Energy Information Administration, gasoline stocks saw a week-to-week increase, while demand for fuel dropped. Meanwhile, the price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil, the primary component in gasoline, has fallen by 7% compared to last year, trading at $69 per barrel.
