GALVESTON, TX — Three haunted houses in Texas have made it onto a national list of the top 10 haunted attractions, according to a report based on reviews from TripAdvisor.com.
Texas locations in Amarillo, Plano, and Galveston earned spots in the ranking, with Amarillo’s 6th Street Massacre Haunted House rated the best in the country.
Receiving a perfect 100% five-star rating, 6th Street Massacre in Amarillo leads the list. Set in a historical building from the 1920s, the haunted house is known for its detailed set designs and paranormal experiences. It gained additional attention when it was featured on the “My Ghost Story” series in 2012.
Other Texas entries include Dark Hour Haunted House in Plano, which placed fifth with an 82.9% five-star rating. This attraction offers visitors a theatrical experience with actors portraying terrifying monsters and ghosts, and even includes a VIP option to go behind the scenes.
Galveston’s Haunted Mayfield Manor, ranked sixth with 81.8% five-star reviews, provides year-round spooky thrills on Harborside Drive. Marketed as one of the best bargains among the top attractions, admission is $15, with visitors warned of “insane” characters and unpredictable scares.
Texas stands out with the highest number of entries in the top 10. Other notable haunted attractions across the country include HellScream Haunted House in Colorado and Fear at the Pier in Florida, which ranked second and third, respectively.
