San Angelo Police Issue Statement on Drive-by and Early Morning Robbery

 

SAN ANGELO, TX— The San Angelo Police Department has issued statements regarding two major crimes that occurred in the past 24 hours that landed two men in the Tom Green County Jail.

Information released by the San Angelo Police Department says that on October 30, 2024, around 3:00 p.m., they received a call for a drive-by shooting near Howard Street and Dallas Street. A witness was able to give the proper information to dispatchers which resulted in officers being able to quickly locate the suspect, 54-year-old George Torres, at his residence.

It was confirmed that the victim’s vehicle was struck by Torres.

Torres was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Also, this morning around 2:50 a.m., San Angelo police received a call regarding a male suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jaylon Knight, brandishing a knife towards a convenience store employee. Officers located Knight in the parking lot next to this location and located property that he had stolen along with the knife used in the offense.

Knight was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery and several city warrants.
