Alleged Box Cutter Robber Back in Jail for Aggravated Assault

 

A 54-year-old San Angelo man recently jailed for for robbing an EZ Pawn customer with a box cutter was put behind bars again on Tuesday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

James Albert Casey was arrested at 9:27 p.m. by the San Angelo police. A total of 26 were booked into and 29 were released from the correctional facility on Tuesday. 

Of those non-warrant arrests, there were two charged with public intoxication and two charged with pot possession. Another one person apiece was jailed for DWI and assault.

Warrant arrests included several for drug possession and burglary.

Update Sept. 10,  10:01 a.m.

Casey was involved in a verbal altercation on Tuesday evening just before 6 p.m. with the occupants of a residence in the 200 block of Riverside. During the altercation, Casey produced a knife and swung it at a victim, who was able to retreat and grab an object in the yard to defend himself against the attack.

Casey then retreated and got in his vehicle, fled, but drove back and tried to run down the residents but they were able to jump out of the way.

He was apprehended at a secondary location and taken to Shannon MC for treatment of injuries he sustained from the original victim who struck him with an object during self-defense.

Casey was interviewed by detectives after his release from the hospital and subsequently charged and transported to the jail. 

The victim and suspect are kin.
