SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for allegedly setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s home following a confrontation, according to court documents.
It happened on June 25, 2024, at around 11:30 a.m., when the San Angelo Police Department, San Angelo Fire Department, and EMS were dispatched to the 500 block of West Avenue V regarding a structure fire.
The fire was extinguished by a neighbor and an investigation was conducted as it seemed the fire was set intentionally. The investigator arrived at the scene and learned the neighbor noticed the fire, told a family member to call 911, and put the fire out with a garden hose.
The Fire Marshals learned that there was video surveillance and a possible suspect, who would be identified as 44-year-old Conrad Delrio.
In the video, a male subject, Delrio, was seen about 20 minutes prior to the fire. The video also showed Delrio yelling at a woman in a Kia Soul that was stopped near the residence where the fire was set.
A resident at the listed address explained she was in a dating relationship with Delrio about a year prior, but he comes to her residence from time to time, uninvited, and he has damaged his property in the past.
The driver of the Kia was interviewed who said she drove to the residence to meet with Delrio. He had contacted her earlier and asked for his belongings in a backpack. When the woman arrived, Delrio was confrontational and upset because she had ended their relationship. Delrio allegedly stated he was going to harm himself and threatened to burndown the residence and other individual’s residences.
A witness on scene stated he knows Delrio by sight and he saw him going in and out of the residence that was set on fire about 25 minutes prior to the fire actually occurring.
The investigator has reason to believe that Delrio intentionally and knowingly set a fire inside the residence on the 500 block of West Avenue V .
Delrio was arrested on June 27, 2024, and has remained an inmate since being held on $65,000 bond.
