City of San Angelo offices will be closed today because of the inclement weather and dangerous driving conditions.

After testing roadways, which he called "trecherous," and consulting with Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Mild, Operations Director Shane Kelton and Mayor Dwain Morrison, City Manager Daniel Valenzuela decided this morning that only employees who provide essential services should report to work. Valenzuela stressed that citizens should avoid driving if at all possible and that shutting down City offices for the day is a prudent decision meant to protect employees from the dangerous driving conditions.

Staffing today will be similar to a City holiday. Public safety personnel, such as police officers and firefighters, will be on duty. Other essential service personnel, such as Water and Street & Bridge crews, will either report to work or will be on standby and called to duty as needed.
