Angelo State Chorale to Host Free ‘Festival of Choirs’ Concert

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Chorale will host its first concert of the fall season on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 32 N. Irving St. in downtown San Angelo.

Titled "Festival of Choirs," the concert is free and open to the public. It will feature performances by the ASU Chorale, Chamber Singers, Glee Club, Treble Chorus and Angelo Voices, with Dr. Eun Mi Lee, staff accompanist, on piano, as well as several special guest accompanists.

The musical program will include:

ASU Chorale

  • "Introit" from "Creation" by Dan Forrest

ASU Chamber Singers

  • "Let My Love Be Heard" by Jake Runestad
  • "Wade in the Water" arranged by Stacey V. Gibbs

ASU Glee Club

  • "Tshotsholoza" arranged by Jeffery L. Ames, featuring soloist Zach Douglas, with music student Allison Culwell and faculty Dr. Trent Shuey on percussion
  • "Nessun Dorma" from "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccini
  • "Go Down, Moses" arranged by Becki Slagle May and Dale Zarlenga
  • "Reconcile" by Kyle Pederson, featuring Shuey on percussion

ASU Treble Chorus

  • "God Be In My Head" by Andrea Ramsey
  • "What Was I Made For?" from "Barbie" by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell

Angelo Voices

  • "Dance the Night" from "Barbie" by Dua Lipa, Andrew Wyatt, Mark Ronson and Caroline Ailin

ASU Chorale

  • "Light" and "The Garden" from "Creation" by Dan Forrest

The 49-member ASU Chorale comprises students from academic departments across campus, and it includes the members of the other four smaller ensembles. The ASU Chamber Singers serve as the leadership core of the Chorale. All the ensembles are directed by Dr. Eric Posada, ASU director of choral activities.
