Man Killed in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash on US 83

 

HAMLIN, TX — A 51-year-old man from Aspermont died after a single-vehicle crash in Stonewall County on Sunday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

It happened just after 5 p.m. on October 6, 2024, on US Highway 83, about 5.5 miles north of Hamlin, Texas.

Authorities identified the driver as Daniel Delane Young, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Darla Pearson around 6:10 p.m.

Young was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla northbound on US 83 when he veered northwest, crossed into the southbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire, resulting in Young’s death. DPS noted that Young was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The road conditions were dry, and the weather was clear, according to investigators. The speed limit in the area is 75 mph.
