Alleged Drug-Induced Psychosis Lands San Angelo Man Behind Bars

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested for allegedly threatening a woman with a baseball bat during what authorities believe to be a drug-induced psychosis.

Mark Ahola, 36, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the September 4, 2024, incident.

According to court documents, San Angelo police responded to the 40 block of Thames Loop in San Angelo regarding a disturbance. Officers met with the victim who said that Ahola arrived at home angry and yelling at her.

The victim then said that Ahola grabbed a metal baseball bat and followed her to her room. Once there, Ahola walked up close to the victim and allegedly said that he was going to “break everything” in the house and hurt her. After that, she was able to leave the residence, drive down the street, and call the police.

The witness also reported that Ahola had been struggling with psychosis for several years and had previously sought voluntary admission to a mental health facility. She stated that his behavior had become more violent, and she believed he was using narcotics.

When officers questioned Ahola, he denied any altercation and claimed not to know why police were at the residence. Investigators noted Ahola spoke about non-existent objects and sounds. He allegedly admitted to irregularly taking his medication and smoking drugs.

Ahola was arrested on October 4, 2024, and was booked into the Tom Green County Jail being held on a $50,000 bond.
