Wall Beats Rival Jim Ned In Classic Finish

 

WALL, TX — The Wall Hawks scored a touchdown with eight seconds remaining, followed by a two-point conversion, for a wild 25-24 win over Jim Ned on Friday.

Thomas Leanos punched it in on a fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line to get Wall within 24-23.

The Hawks then went for 2, and Landon York found Lane Stansberry for the game-winning conversion.

Wall jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead, but Jim Ned came roaring back and took the lead with 2:32 remaining.

Wall answered back for a big win and another impressive performance. The Hawks have also defeated Mason 28-6 and lost to Class 4A Brownwood 17-7.

York was 19-of-31 passing for 222 yards and two TDs with no interceptions.

Reid Robertson had nine catches for 95 yards and a TD, while Kellan Oliver had three catches for 91 yards and a TD.

Leanos had 24 carries for 58 rushing yards.

Gavin Sisson led the Hawks' defense with 11 tackles and three tackles for loss. Ethan Michalewicz added nine tackles.

Evan Boehle and Levi King each had INTs.

Wall (2-1), ranked No. 9 in Class 3A Division II, will host Monahans next week, while Jim Ned (1-2) will be at home against Jacksboro.
