Lake View Chiefs Light Up Scoreboard in Win Over Lamesa

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View Chiefs scored 28 points in the first quarter, igniting a huge night for their offense in a 55-42 win over Lamesa on Friday at San Angelo Stadium.

Sophomore quarterback Chris Alvizo was 21-of-30 passing for 337 yards, and he threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers in the first half as Lake View took a 42-28 lead into halftime.

Sammy Ramirez had a pair of TD runs in the second half, including one with about seven minutes remaining to help put the game away after Lamesa had pulled within 49-42.

The win snapped an 11-game losing streak and continued an impressive showing for Lake View's offense, which is averaging 39 points per game after three weeks.

In two starts, Alvizo has thrown for 690 yards and nine TDs.

It was a defensive TD, however, that started the scoring Friday when Lake View defensive back Braylon White intercepted a pass and took it to the house.

Ramirez caught a 20-yard TD pass, then Cristian Esparza had a 77-yard TD catch, and the Chiefs were off to the races with a 21-0 lead.

Alvizo then threw TD passes to Munoz for 34 yards, White for 58 yards, and Leyva for 7 yards.

White had five catches for 94 yards, and Esparza had three catches for 90 yards.

Ramirez had 17 carries for 77 rushing yards.

Lamesa freshman QB Daniel Ramos was slinging away as well with five TD passes and a TD run to get his team back in the game.

Lake View's defense made a couple late stops, including an interception by Esparza. Leyva also had an INT for the Chiefs' defense, which forced four turnovers.

Lake View's offense was turnover free.

Lake View (1-2) will play its next three games on the road, beginning Thursday, Sept. 19, at Lubbock High.

Lamesa (0-3) will host DImmitt next week.
