OZONA, TX — Ozona High School's Christian Villarreal has been named the Class 2A Built Ford Tough Player of the Week after his performance last week against McCamey.
The Ozona running back had 20 carries for 361 yards and 6 touchdowns, averaging a remarkable 18 yards every time he touched the ball.
He led the Lions to a 60-0 season-opening win.
Villarreal had a breakout season last year as a sophomore, rushing for 1,129 yards and 13 TDs in 10 games. He averaged 7.8 yards per carry.
Ozona will play its next game in Eldorado at 7 p.m. Friday.
The other Built Ford Tough Players of the Week were Jordan's Andrew Marsh in 6A, Galveston Ball's Jonah Williams in 5A, Bay City's Xylan Williams in 4A, Woodville's Tayvion Hunter in 3A, and Holy Cross of San Antonio's Gilbert Alvarado Jr. for private schools. There is no category for 1A schools.
