SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View Maidens volleyball team won its first match since 2022 on Tuesday with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-19 victory over Midland TLCA.
The Maidens were co-district champs in 2022, but they struggled through a winless season last year, though they had chances in numerous five-set losses.
Tuesday's win was a moment the program needed to get back on track.
Lake View head coach Donita Brown said Rihana Orosco and Leah Resendez were her match MVPs.
“These two are both juniors, and this is their first year on varsity,” Brown said. “They have come so far and work very hard to improve daily. Their coachability and willingness to learn are great character traits that make them even more valuable to their team.”
Dallas Carrillo anchored the Maidens’ defense with 20 digs and 11 serve receives. She also had 3 kills and an ace.
Emma Brooks had a strong all-around performance with 3 kills, 4 blocks and 6 digs. Sky Carroll added 4 blocks. Alexys Tryels dished out 8 assists.
Lake View will play again Saturday when it hosts Andrews.
