Lake View Chiefs' Comeback Falls Just Short at Fort Stockton

FORT STOCKTON, TX — Despite a valiant comeback attempt, the Lake View Chiefs dropped their season opener 30-27 on Friday in Fort Stockton.

Lake View trailed 30-7 midway through the third quarter before storming back with the game’s final 20 points.

After the Chiefs’ final touchdown with about four minutes to play, Fort Stockton was able to run out the clock to hang on for the win.

Lake View wide receivers Braylon White and Francisco Ramirez combined for 299 receiving yards to lead the offense.

White had 12 catches for 150 yards and a TD, while Ramirez had 11 catches for 149 yards and a TD.

Chiefs senior quarterback Auston Perez was 13-of-22 passing for 155 yards with a TD and two interceptions.

Sophomore QB Chris Alvizo put up some impressive numbers, completing 13 of 18 passes for 195 yards and two TDs with one INT.

He also added 12 carries for 58 yards and a TD.

Fort Stockton went 9-2 last season and returned the majority of its team. Lake View went 1-9 last year and is trying to find some traction for a turnaround.

Friday’s near-comeback could be a good place to start.

Lake View will make its home debut next week against Snyder. Fort Stockton will visit Alpine.
