SAN ANGELO, TX— On College Hills across from Unidad Park and the All-Tex Irrigation Splash Pad, the coolest little creamery has opened their doors.
Nana’s Sweet Shop opened last Tuesday, and they serve homemade ice cream complete with a variety of different cones, including a red velvet waffle cone, and a topping bar with all the candy and cereal one can think of.
Store manager Jonathan Parker said, “We do banana splits, milk shakes, sundaes. We going to be adding in pints and quarts and we’ll also be adding in more bar style desserts in the future. We’re just trying to add some more equipment as the weeks go on.”
Located at 3228 College Hills Boulevard, the location is perfect with Unidad Park right across the street and of course, the All-Tex Irrigation Splash Pad. Nana’s Sweet Shop opened at just the right time as the splash pad opened with summer still bearing down on San Angelo.
Also, all the ice cream at Nana’s Sweet Shop is homemade.
“We’re trying to source the best ice cream from the best sources,” Parker said, “Right now, about half comes from Fredericksburg and some are even made with the Fredericksburg peaches. (Like I said) We’re just trying to source the best ice creams from the best sources.”
Nana’s Sweet Shop is also trying to source completely from Texas as well.
“There’s another shop in Dallas called Henry’s that we’re going to bring on his ice cream as well,” said Parker.
With San Angelo being San Angelo and the heat being unbearable at times, ice cream sounds like a great idea which Parker said they have a passion for.
“We defiantly have a passion for ice cream,” Parker said, “The name kind of came from our Nanas. They inspired the desserts, and it just felt natural to go with.”
Nana’s Sweet Shop is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. Again, they are right across College Hills from Unidad Park at 3228 South College Hills Boulevard.
