SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Police Department has issued a scam alert, warning residents of an increase in fraudulent attempts aimed at the community.
The department stressed that neither law enforcement nor banks will ever ask for money, request financial details or direct residents to withdraw or transfer funds over the phone, email, or social media.
According to the alert, scammers are contacting individuals, posing as police officers or bank representatives, and requesting payments or withdrawals.
The police urge anyone receiving such calls to hang up immediately and report the incident to the non-emergency dispatch at 325-657-4315.
"Stay safe, and always verify before you trust sharing your identifying information with anyone," the police department stated.
