The Abilene Police Department has arrested two suspects in relation to the murder of 27-year-old officer Don Allen.
At 8:45 p.m. Thursday, APD Chief Stan Standridge made the announcement at a press conference, naming 30-year-old Violet Walter and 29-year-old Phillip Walter as the sole suspects in the crime. Both have been charged with murder.
According to a press release, Officer Allen was found dead in his Clyde home on Aug. 31 by family and friends. He was alone at the time he was found. The Clyde Police Department was immediately contacted and responded to the residence shortly after 7 p.m. Monday.
The APD, in their initial release, stated that the manner of death was "clearly suspicious" and a multi-agency homicide investigation was that included the APD, CPD, Texas Rangers and FBI.
On Thursday afternoon, the APD released information on Twitter announcing a major break in the case. At that time, they described the two suspects as a tall, thin, white male and a dark-haired white or Hispanic female. The two were see exiting a late '90s maroon 4-door passenger car.
By Thursday evening, the suspects had been apprehended.
Officer Allen had been with the APD for a year and five months when he was killed. Funeral services for the fallen officer will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. at Beltway in the main sanctuary. Graveside services will immediately follow at Clyde Cemetery.
