Andrews Police Ask For Public's Help After Child Killed in Hit-And-Run

 

ANDREWS, TX — The Andrews Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a hit-and-run that left a child dead Wednesday morning.

At about 6:04 a.m. Wednesday, first responders were dispatched after a report of an auto pedestrian accident. A juvenile male was apparently struck in the roadway by a motor vehicle, which then left the scene.

A passerby drove up on the juvenile in the road and contacted 911. 

Officers and EMS arrived and provided life-saving measures. The juvenile was transported to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The juvenile’s identity was being withheld until there was time to notify all family members, according to the press release.

The Andrews Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance with:

  • Video or witness information covering the area of south Main Street and Avenue E.
  • Video or witness information covering southeast Avenue E, eastbound towards southeast Mustang Drive.

The incident is believed to have happened between 6 a.m. and 6:04 a.m.
