FRONTON, TX — The Rio Grande Valley Sector Missing Migrant Program successfully located a lost migrant mother and child on Wednesday, Aug. 7, rescuing them from harsh conditions in a remote ranchland.
Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande City Station were alerted around 1:50 a.m. after the mother called 911 for assistance.
She informed the operator that she was near a metal sign labeled “Auxilio 911” (Help 911) with a green cross. This sign, part of the RGV Sector Missing Migrant Program, provided precise location coordinates to aid responders.
Agents located the mother and child, who were then evaluated by emergency medical technicians and transported to a local Border Patrol station for further care.
“Great work by all involved in this humanitarian response,” said RGV Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez. “This rescue highlights the importance of the humanitarian efforts that the Rio Grande Valley Sector, through its Missing Migrant Program, has invested in to save human lives.”
