Third Arrest Made in $1 Million Theft of San Angelo Walmart

SAN ANGELO, TX — A third arrest has been made in connection to the theft of more than $1 million from a San Angelo Walmart.

Zkel Grant, who played football for Angelo State University last year, was booked into Tom Green County Jail in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Grant was charged with theft between $30,000 and $150,000. His bond was set at $350,000.

Carmelo Amigleo and Ryan Munoz, both 18, were arrested July 28 after an investigation into a large-scale theft operation that took place over the course of a year at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 1852 Sherwood Way.

According to court documents, on July 18, 2024, a San Angelo Police Department investigator was contacted by a Walmart global investigator who stated that Walmart Corporate was investigating fraud of lottery ticket redemptions.

Two Walmart employees, Amigleo and Munoz, were believed to be creating fraudulent lottery winning transactions and then taking cash from the register.

The incident is still currently under investigation, and no other information has been released by the SAPD.
