SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service in San Angelo released a weather update indicating warm temperatures today with highs approaching the upper 90s across the region.
Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies are expected following morning low clouds in southern areas, with south winds blowing at 10 to 20 mph.
An isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm is possible, particularly south of a line from Junction to San Saba. Tonight’s forecast calls for partly cloudy to mostly clear skies with lows in the 70s and south winds at 5 to 15 mph.
This could be the final day of highs in the 90s for a while in portions of the Big Country and Concho Valley, as temperatures are anticipated to rise into the triple digits starting tomorrow.
Temperatures will start to increase on Monday, rising through the week and into the weekend. The region faces the potential for excessive heat, with the hottest temperatures expected in the Big Country and Concho Valley.
The National Weather Service advises residents to hydrate, take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, and watch for signs of heat illness.
