Man Dies in Ector County Detention Center; Texas Rangers Investigate

 

ODESSA, TX – A 50-year-old man died after being found unresponsive at the Ector County Detention Center on Sunday, according to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office. 

The man was reported to be Joe Miranda, and he was arrested by Odessa police on Saturday on charges of criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and failure to identify, according to jail records.

Detention center staff discovered Miranda unresponsive in his cell and immediately administered CPR until an ambulance arrived. He was transported to Medical Center Hospital ER, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death has not been released. The Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation as per protocol.
