Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Across Concho Valley and Hill Country

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A line of showers and thunderstorms is forecasted to move south across the Concho Valley and the northwest Hill Country throughout the morning, according to the US National Weather Service in San Angelo. 

The primary concerns include dangerous lightning and locally heavy rainfall, which may cause minor flooding in low-lying areas and roadways.

A 7:30 a.m. radar update indicates a line of showers and thunderstorms extending from the Concho Valley southeast towards the northwest Hill Country. This line is expected to move slowly southward during the morning hours. Dangerous lightning and heavy rainfall are anticipated, with minor flooding possible.

The forecast for today indicates temperatures will remain near normal, with highs ranging from the upper 80s to mid-90s. The east-northeast winds will be between 5 to 15 mph. Scattered thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon, particularly south of a line from Mertzon to San Saba. The main hazards will include dangerous lightning and heavy rainfall.

Extended Forecast:

  • Friday: Partly cloudy with morning lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s. East winds of 5 to 15 mph are expected.
  • Saturday: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Morning lows will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s, with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph are forecasted.
  • Sunday: There is a 60% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy rain possible. Morning lows will be in the low to mid-70s, with afternoon highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s. Light and variable winds are expected.
  • Monday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely, with heavy rain possible. Morning lows will be in the mid-60s to near 70s, and afternoon highs will range from the mid-80s to upper 90s. East to northeast winds of 5 to 10 mph are forecasted.
  • Tuesday: There is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows will be in the mid to upper 60s, with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s. Southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph are expected.
