OMAHA, NE — The Texas A&M baseball team remains one win away from the first National Championship in program history after the Aggies split two games this weekend with Tennessee. The Aggies head into a winner-take-all elimination game on Monday night for a shot at the title.
Game 3: Texas A&M vs. Tennessee

Both teams enter Game 3 with one win a piece. Texas A&M claimed victory in Game 1 9-5, and Tennessee evened the series with a 4-1 victory in Game 2.

Game 1: Texas A&M 9 Tennesee 5
The Aggies never trailed in this contest. A lead-off home run proved to be all Texas A&M needed in a game where the Aggie’s offense put up eight more insurance runs. Tennessee battled back throughout but never managed to claw their way back past the Aggies.
The Vols scored three runs off back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. With their lead cut to four, the Aggies turned to reliever Evan Aschenbeck to secure the final eight outs. Aschenbeck delivered a stellar performance, striking out seven of the ten batters he faced, effectively quelling any hopes of a Tennessee comeback.
Game 2: Tennesee 4 Texas A&M 1
Texas A&M held the lead in Game 2 for almost seven innings before the Vols took over. Tennessee claimed its first lead of the finals in the seventh inning. Vols’ Christian Moore worked a seven-pitch walk and scored when Dylan Dreiling hit a two-run home run to right field, putting the Vols in front, 2-1.
A&M generated offense but never pushed runners across the plate. The Aggies stranded six on base and had two more picked off.
