ASU Belle Records Fastest Prelim Time at Outdoor Championships

 

EMPORIA, KS — The Angelo State men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up day one of the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships on Thursday, May 23. Both the Rams and Belles had several qualifying times in the preliminary events that will see them to the finals.

Most notably, the Belles’ Fatoumata Kabo finished the 400-meter hurdles with the fastest qualifying time in the prelims with a 57.42.

Other qualifiers were:

  • 400-meter Dash - Belles’ Shadae Findley - 52.93 - 2nd fastest time.
  • Decathlon - Rams’ Mark Burden - 3,895 points - currently 6th place overall
  • Heptathlon
  • Belles’ Maricia Spence - 3,119 points - currently 13th overall
  • Belles’ Anna Riccomango - 2,947 points - 16th overall
  • Long Jump - Belles’ Abby Zamzow - 5.85 meters - 14th overall
  • Pole Vault - Belles’ Kylyie Paden - 3.70 meters - 16th overall

Day 2 kicks off on Friday, May 24, with the Decathlon scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and the heptathlon at 10:30 a.m.
