City of San Angelo Invites Public Input on Capital Improvement Plan

SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo has issued a call for public input on its Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

The plan, which addresses infrastructure needs such as streets, water systems, and parks, will influence the city’s budget for fiscal year 2025 starting October 1, 2024.

According to information from the city, the CIP was established to provide a routine process for identifying, evaluating, and advocating the capital needs of the City of San Angelo.

The objectives utilized to develop the CIP are:

  • To identify and examine current and future infrastructure needs and minimize the financial impact on residents.
  • To maximize the useful life of capital investments by scheduling major renovations and modifications at the appropriate time in the life-cycle of the facility.
  • To improve financial planning by comparing needs with resources, and estimating future funding issues.

The CIP originated after a major infrastructure failure in December 2006, when a water transmission main burst, impacting two-thirds of San Angelo’s population, information stated. This event prompted staff and the city council to research the most critical infrastructure needs.

In 2007, the city adopted the first five-year CIP to "better reflect" a comprehensive view of the city's needs and activities.

San Angeloans are invited to share their thoughts via a short online form on what should be the city's capital priorities.

CIP projects have various funding sources, including grants, designated revenue, debt instruments, fund balances, and sales and property taxes.

Citizens can view the CIP and share their thoughts via a short online form posted on the city’s website at cosatx.us/CIPInput.

Since when does the Old Money of San Angelo care what the Citizens want? Just a Sham to think they care. As usual the Old Money runs San Angelo just like it wants .

IDK about "Old Money," but the regional tyrant overlords actually do what they can, which is not always the same as what they want. (Or what's legal.) They need your help figuring out how effective their efforts against your interests have been.
