Lillie Street Shooter Takes Plea Deal

SAN ANGELO — Kaya Paulhill, a 22-year-old resident of San Angelo, has admitted guilt to charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection to two separate shooting incidents—one at the Lillie Street Apartments and another at the Glen Park Apartments.

According to court documents, the first incident unfolded on April 28, 2023, when San Angelo police responded to reports of a shooting victim at the Nueva Vista Apartments on Lillie Street. The victim was found on the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. Paulhill, the perpetrator, fled in a black Dodge Charger but was apprehended shortly after near the intersection of North Jefferson Street and Junius Street.

Evidence from a witness-provided video depicted Paulhill engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim before pulling out a handgun and firing multiple shots. A witness recounted that Paulhill arrived with his children, and after a heated exchange initiated by what Paulhill perceived as a rude comment from the victim, he brandished his firearm, warning, "you don't want none." The altercation escalated, leading Paulhill to discharge his weapon at the victim before fleeing.

In a subsequent interview conducted under Miranda rights, Paulhill admitted to the altercation and the use of a firearm against the victim.

In a separate incident on August 21, 2023, officers responded to a disturbance at the Glen Park Apartment Complex on Christoval Road. Reports indicated a suspect, later identified as Paulhill, possibly armed with a gun. Paulhill was pursued and apprehended after discharging a weapon inside a vehicle occupied by the victim. The victim, identified as Paulhill's partner, reported an argument escalating to gunfire as she attempted to leave for an event. Paulhill fled the scene, prompting the victim to seek refuge and contact authorities.

Officers located Paulhill after a search, culminating in a foot pursuit during which a firearm was recovered along Paulhill's path. Subsequent investigation revealed a Glock 22 handgun, along with additional magazines, in Paulhill's possession upon arrest.

In addition to the assault charges, Paulhill also admitted guilt to Burglary of a Habitation.

In exchange for his guilty pleas, Paulhill received a sentence of 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for each Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge and the Burglary of a Habitation charge. He is also obligated to pay $144,470.30 in restitution.
