SAN ANGELO, TX — The Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee announces the retirement of Mr. Walt Koenig, President/CEO of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce effective May 20, 2024, after four years of dedicated service to the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. His enthusiasm for serving the San Angelo community will always be appreciated.
Walt Koenig came to San Angelo after years of public service in various industries such as federal government and several chambers. In his role as Chamber President, he has been a passionate promoter of San Angelo. His dedication to San Angelo businesses and the success of his chamber staff is beyond compare.
“My wife MG and I will always treasure the time we spent at the Chamber serving the people of San Angelo. We will certainly be frequent visitors!" Koenig said.
Walt’s leadership helped achieve notable recognition such as establishing San Angelo as the Visual Arts Capitol of Texas, 2024 Best Visitor Center in Texas, and 2024 People’s Choice Award for the Best Destination for Arts and Culture in the State of Texas.
“On behalf of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Board, we want to thank Walt for his unwavering service to San Angelo and the success of this city. We also wish him, and his wife MG, all the best in their future endeavors and travels”, said Chris Evatt, Board Chair. A national search will be conducted to identify the best candidates for the position.
A retirement reception to celebrate Walt and his many years of public service will be held at the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, date and time TBA.
