SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo State Park will host a series of public events throughout May, inviting guests of all ages to explore nature and wildlife in diverse and engaging ways.
Tomorrow, May 18, John Talley will lead a trail bike ride starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Burkett Trailhead. This event caters to both beginners and seasoned riders.
Sunday, May 19, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., participants can "Meander to the Permian Tracks" and learn about the prehistoric mammals that once roamed the park, pictured in the cover image.
This 2-mile round trip hike, led by Pat Bales, will start at gate 8-C on Hwy 2288. Participants are reminded to secure a day pass online before their visit.
The final Saturday of the month, May 25, will be dedicated to learning about wildlife. At 9 a.m., Jana will host a session on migratory birds at the Wildlife Viewing Area.
At 10:30 a.m., Laural Scott will lead another session focused on "Mini-Mammals," featuring hands-on learning about the skins and skulls of various animals located at the park. This session will meet at the Bison viewing area.
