Over $424,000 in Marijuana Seized by DPS Trooper

 

AMARILLO – During a traffic stop on IH-40 Tuesday, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper yielded 70 pounds of marijuana valued at over $420,000.

According to a press release Wednesday, the trooper, at approximately 12:34 p.m., conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu traveling eastbound on IH-40 near Conway in Carson County. The trooper discovered six bundles of marijuana in the trunk.

The driver of the Malibu was identified as Darrell E. Baker, 59, of Columbus, Ohio. He was placed under arrest for possession and delivery of marijuana over 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Columbus, Ohio, DPS officials stated.
