Two on the Run, One Captured After High-Speed Chase in Santa Rita

SAN ANGELO, TX — Two suspects remain at large after a high-speed vehicle chase through the streets of Santa Rita in San Angelo ended in a crash and led to the seizure of firearms and drug paraphernalia Tuesday night, according to the San Angelo Police Department.

One suspect, identified as 20-year-old Joe A. Hogeda, is in custody facing multiple charges, including minor consumption of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, and unlawful carry of a weapon.

This unfolded after officers attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving near S. Bryant and West Ave J.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, leading to a high-speed chase that continued west into the Santa Rita Area.

The pursuit ended on Ave J when the vehicle struck a power pole and two unoccupied parked vehicles.

The pursuing officer discontinued the pursuit but observed the suspect vehicle crash further down the roadway. The pursuing officer then arrived at the accident scene and observed the suspects fleeing from the vehicle.

Three occupants fled the scene, but authorities were able to apprehend Hogeda.

During the investigation, officers seized two firearms and drug paraphernalia.

The police department is actively seeking information on the two suspects who evaded capture.

The department urges anyone with information to call 325-657-4315 and reference case #2024-0003232.
